CM Manik Sarkar pays tribute to the martyr’s at A.D.Nagar police reserve ground

AGARTALA, Oct 21 (TIWN): The sacrifices of policemen in the line of duty were marked with solemnity on the occasion of the Martyrs day at A.D.Nagar police reserve ground on Wednesday.

A floral tribute was paid by district police officials for nearly 436 policemen who lost their lives over the past year, and a silent prayer was held at the City Reserve Police grounds.

Calling it a moral duty to honour policemen, who often maintain law and order with little regard for their personal safety, Chief Minister Manik Sarkar said that, “we salute policemen for their work, and giving their life for the safety of the people of the country”.

As a part of the program Chief Minister Manik Sarkar also paid floral tribute to the Martyrs at A.D.Nagar police ground on Wednesday.

However, the process was also followed by Chief Secretary Yash Pal Singh and DGP also.

The police jawans who sacrificed their lives while discharging their duties towards society in general and nation in particular were remembered at A.D.Nagar police reserve ground on Wednesday. Every year October 21 is observed as Police Hutatma Diwas or Martyr’s Day across the nation. The day is marked as the important day in police administration.

Thousands of personnel from the police department, Border Security Force, Central Reserve Police Force, etc., sacrifice their lives in line of service. All such men are remembered and paid tribute to on this day.

A parade is also taken out on the occasion. Tripura city police force and other police personnel from across the state participated in the parade.

October 21 is observed as Police Martyr’s Day every year in the memory of those 20 soldiers of CRPF who were on duty near Ladakh under the command of Karam Singh. The troop was attacked by Chinese army in which 10 soldiers died and others were taken captives. This day is celebrated to pay tribute to all those who sacrificed their lives while doing their duty.
