AGARTALA, Sep 29 (TIWN): Power generation from Palatana power plant have stopped for six days. None among the two units of OTPC are generating power. Earlier days back one unit have stop generating power and from Monday mid-night the second unit also went for shut down.
OPTC sources said due to overhauling of gas pipelines second unit was given shut down. The work will go till October 4,after that power generation will resume again. But it is not clear whether both unit can generate power together after completion of overhauling. Again on October 11, the unit will again go for one day shut down.
Meanwhile two days ahead of the shut down, TSECl was unable to give uninterrupted power supply. Unscheduled load shedding was the only option left to overcome the crisis. People have to face problems due to unscheduled power cuts ahead of Durga puja.
Under this circumstance of Palatana shut down power crisis in the state ought to be serious. Even though the CMD of TSECL, S.K. Roy assured that steps have been taken to maintain normal power supply in the state.
