MGNREGA workers sat for road blockade in Udaipur

UDAIPUR, September 29 (TIWN): MGNREGA workers of Sataria ward no. 3 under Tepania Block of Udaipur on Monday sat for road blockade at National Highway-44 adjacent to Tepania Gomati District Hospital with an agitation of being deprived of their basic wages.

The agitators had withdrawn their protest after Chairperson of Tepania Block Panchayat Bijon Chakraborty assured to listen to their demands. Besides, police personnel of Radha Kishore Pur Police Station also rushed to the spot.

Hundreds of MGNREGA workers joined the blockade with an agitation of being deprived of their basic wages.

Getting assurance from the Tepania Block Panchayat Bijon Chakraborty, a three members team has went to the Block Panchayat office to place their demands.

According to the REGA workers, where the workers of the other area are getting Rs. 170 as their daily wages, the MGNREGA workers are getting Rs. 50/ 60 after a long day of effort.

However, they have claimed that they have been deprived from their basic rights. They are the wage labourer, therefore whatever they earn its goes on buy meal for a day.

However, after Chairperson assured to look into the matter.
