AGARTALA, September 24 (TIWN): State National Service Scheme Cell, Directorate of Youth Affairs and Sports on Thursday organized a State Level National Service Scheme Day at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhawan.
During the programme, Executive Member of TCA and Sport Department of TTAADC have inaugurated the programme in the presence of Director-in-charge of Rajya Sainik Welfare P.K Sinha and Director of Education (YAS) Department Dulal Chandra Das.
However, students from Netaji Subhash Vidyaniketan Higher Secondary School, Vidyasagar Girl’s Higher Secondary School, Prachyabharati Higher Secondary School, Abhoynagar N.S School, Shishubihar Higher Secondary School, Nandannagar Girl’s Higher Secondary School, SDM Government Music College, Madhuban (D) Higher Secondary School and K.K.S.M Higher Secondary School have participated at the programme.
Besides, the State NSS Cell has given Rs. 94, 201 of fund which they have collected during the Flag Day for the Jawans who get injured during the wars and at the borders.
The National Service Scheme (NSS) is an Indian government-sponsored public service program conducted by the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports of the Government of India. The scheme was launched in Gandhiji's Centenary year, 1969.
It has been aimed at developing student's personality through community service. NSS is a voluntary association of young people in Colleges, Universities and at +2 level working for a campus-community linkage.
The NSS programme is organised by the students themselves However, both students and teachers through their combined participation in community service, get a sense of involvement in the tasks of nation building.
