TIWN

AGARTALA, September 11 (TIWN): Altogether 352 suicide cases have been registered from August 1, 2014 to January 2015, according to the official report.

Detailing about the report, it has been mentioned that 81 are unemployed, 119 are labours. Whereas 3 are farmers, 35 are minor and 116 others.

Therefore, now the question arises that if in 6-month the number of suicide is 352 than what will be the rate in one year.

Earlier also Tripura had topped in the list of suicide in North East.

Reportedly, the suicide rate in Tripura seems to be more in the interior areas mostly due to unemployment and poverty. Even there are parents who sake their child just because they cannot afford two time meal for the child.

Therefore, in exchange of money the parents sale their child to the rich families or the families which can afford the child two time meal.

Tripura also has an open border with Bangladesh whereby huge cache of drugs has made way to the market. Over abuse of these substances can lead to mood swings which include depression.

There are youths who remained unemployed for prolonged many years and being frustrated of their life and with the unavailability of the job in the state they end their life, feeling themselves a failure.

These factors may also add to the alarming rates of suicide in the state of Tripura.

Therefore, it is necessary to take initiatives to curb the increasing number of suicide in the state.
