Scarcity of essential items hits South Tripura

Belonia/Santirbazar/Sabroom, September 10 (TIWN): Unavailability of essential commodities has hit life in South Tripura .
The prices of essential commodities is on the top. Potatoes, which used to cost Rs 20 per kg, are now being sold at Rs 35 to Rs 40 per kg. The prices of onions and garlic have risen to Rs 80-90 per kg and Rs 165-Rs 170 per kg respectively.
A cement bag is being sold at Rs 680-Rs 700 while other construction materials especially iron rods are running out of stock, sources here said. Stocks of all kinds of daily use items are also running out.
