AGARTALA, September 9 (TIWN): In a major breakthrough, speaking to the media on Wednesday Police DIG Uttam Majumder informed that they have gone through all the CCTV footage of the Banks as well as the ATM counters and managed to identify that there are some gangs who visit the banks daily to keep tab on consumers. During the Press Conference, DIG Uttam Majumder alongwith other officers displayed the pictures of the miscreants who are involved at the Bank robberies. They also shown the CCTV footage of the banks and the act of the robbers. Besides, in a major blow police managed to arrest three miscreants from the Colonel Chouwmuhani near the TLA branch. While interrogation they managed to find out that the miscreants are from Jalpaiguri. Police also suspecting that the miscreants are mostly from outside the state.Detailing about the operation initiated by the East Agartala police, Majumder added that the miscreants visit the banks daily and keep eye on the consumers and the visitors. While eyeing over the consumers, the miscreants identified which of the consumers carries out huge bundle of notes from the bank. Later they followed the consumers and snatched the money.”Police teams have examined CCTV footage obtained from many banks in the city and pinned down this particular clip”, said DIG Majumder.He further sought the help of the media asking to release the video clippings in the media so that the people can be made aware about the gangs and they can identify the miscreants. Besides, he also said that the same group is involved in the ATM robbery as well.

This step is being taken to alter the mass about the daily loots in the banks of the city.Therefore, the civilians can also identify the shown images of the miscreants and can save their money.

Besides, the police department is planning to prepare flex so that with the help of it people could come to know about them and can be alert from the miscreants in the coming days.

However, the police also asked the banks to appoint individuals who would keep eye on the CCTV footage of the banks and the ATMs so that if they come through any suspects they can inform the police. Therefore, it will help to curb any untoward incident.

They further hoped that the footage as well as still images obtained from video would help track down the suspect, as his apprehension could lead to the arrest of gang members who struck at the bank branches and escaped.

However, the police already initiated the operation to nab the miscreants and the continuing with the further investigation to curb the crime.
