Torture on wife for dowry: Former judge sentenced to prison

AGARTALA, September 9 (TIWN): Former judge of Khowai court, Pathik Daschoudhury and his father Sandeep Das former deputy register of earlier Agartala in Guwahati high court was sentenced to jail. Both were convicted for domestic violence on wife. First class deputy magistrate of Unakoti district Sarbajit Choudhutry on Tuesday in a judgement under section 498(A) sentenced father – son for one year imprisonment and fined Rs 10000.

It is mentionable here that on April 18, 2006 Pathik and Sampa Pal had arranged marriage. After two day of marriage, Pathik demanded a car from Sampa. Even Sandeep supported the demand of his son. However, Pathik’s mother objected the demand. 

On this the duo started assaulting Sampa.After one year she gave birth to a girl child, but physical and mental torture was not stopped. Later she and her daughter shifted to Khowai as Pathik joined as first class magistrate there.

In Khowai government resident, Pathik tortured her in front of daughter. Unable to bear the torture, she informed her parents residing at Boulabasa under Kailashahar police station. Her parents went to Khowai and took her to Additional District Judge  of Khowai to lodge a verbal complain and also narrated to him whatever happened to her after marriage.

Than   case was registered at Kailashahar women  police station. Due to hardwork, integrity and efficient investigation of officer – in – charge Dipanjana Sinha helped Sampa in getting justice.
