AGARTALA, August 23 (TIWN): In a recent public meeting namely 3rd State Conference held at Umakanta School ground in the presence of CM’s wife Panchali Bhattacharjee and A. R. Sindhu (All India General Secretary), Manik Dey calimed that Anganwadis in state Tripura is provided with good qualities’ food to students, and also monthly allowance to Anganwadi workers. Dey might has been forgotten that very recently Anganwadi workers expressed displeasure over State govt.’s deprivation regarding not regularizing them and inappropriate amount of titular allowance to them. State is also gripped in turmoils regarding the bad quality of food arranged at Anganwadi centres.State govt.’s decision of giving one time allowance to the workers which would stand maximum as Rs. 50,000 or to give them 600 and 350 as monthly allowance, has totally deprived the Anganwadi workers, claims the workers recently. They further claimed that although the project ICDS goes under the Central Govt. scheme, still the state govt. (if wanted) could regularize them. Example already has been given by Pondicherry govt. Not only Pandicheri govt. has regularized the workers, but as well as the workers’ salary has also been increased, claimed Anganwadi workers.

According to the reports, to protest against the decision of state govt. Anganwadi workers have already formed a union namely “Anganwadi Karmi and Sahayika Aikya samiti”. Hence it’s to be mentioned here that left front govt. often begs the Angawadi workers to walk with them in various rallies, but when it comes in the matter of salary and regularization the govt. has enough excuses to show empty bowls.

 It’s worthy to mention here that in such clashes the most deprived are those children who come here to learn the basic education.

Since long Anganwadis of Tripura are running in bad shapes. From mid-day-meal to quality of education in every sphere govt. is still failed to sustain the poor people. As a result such chaos arises often in the state. However govt. is used to give its blind eyes into such issues.

For an example, the students of Anganwadi centre at Khowai fell ill after mid-day meal as huge amount of dead insects were found at their mid-day meal curry before few months. Later the guardians alongwith the locals locked the Anganwadi centre leaving it suspended for the day. The insects were detected while the children of Khowai Purba Gankul Nazrul Polli Anganwadi were served with their regular mid-day meal Khichudi. After getting alarmed the concerned Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) Dinesh Debbarma alongwith two supervisors rushed to the spot and conducted an enquiry to the tragedy.

However, doing seminars and praising the govt. would not bring a solution of the problems to the state. Ministers needs to visit Anganwadi centers physically and thus bring a solution to the problems. Education is the basic thing of every child’s life and state govt. needs to be more serious about it.
