AGARTALA,August 23(TIWN): All Sarva Shisha Abhijaan and RMSA teacher will go for one day mass leave on 27 August demanding regularization of their jobs. All the teachers will gather at Rabndra Bhawan premise around 11 AM. From there they will pass various thoroughfare of the capital before gathering in a rally. The rally is schedule to be addressed by president of All India Teacher Employees Association – Arbind Rana and state leaders.
It is mentionable here that 10,323 members of the SSA/RMSA Union had been performing their duties at a meagre salary for the past 10 years and they should be regularised after three years of service.The centre reportedly informed the state government to regularize the contract teachers. The salaries and other incentives will be given by centre. Whereas, the state was skipping the issue of regularization. Besides, the money given by centre for the contract teachers are also not given, only half of the amount are disbursed.
As per Right to Education, no teachers can be appointed on contract basis.All kind of teachers ought to be given regualar scale. Having no alternative, a section of SSA/RMSA teachers filed a case in court.
The CM had agreed to their demand but nothing had been done till now. The union also submitted a letter of demands to the education minister Tapan Chakraborty.Despite the instructions issued during the past meetings, no concrete step had been taken to increase the pay of the employees.The government was ignoring them and if it did not accept the workers’ demands, they would intensify their struggle.
