Tripura MPs meet Union Commerce Minister to push pending projects in State

Agartala / New Delhi, Aug 21 (TIWN): MPs from Tripura, Jitendra Chaudhury and Jharna Das Baidya met Nirmala Sitharaman, at her office at Udyog Bhavan, New Delhi. Various issues related to Tripura and North East were discussed in the prolonged meeting to push the pending projects of state.

The central government agreed for an extension of rubber park in Tripura, according to  Nirmala Sitharaman, union minister of commerce of industries . Jitendra Choudhury told to TIWN that while the visiting MPs expressed their grave concern over the suspension of NEIIPP which has halted the entire North East, Sitharaman said that the government is contemplating withdrawal of the suspension soon.
The MPs had termed it as injustice to North East as far as  Modiji’s  'Act East Policy'. Assurance had been given to set up Rubber Park of Rs.11.62 crores by Union Minister Sitharaman. The MPs have urged for maintaining 90:10 pattern of cost sharing.
Ministry of commerce and industries take up the matter with MEA, MHA and Custom Authority for Operationalisation of Land Custom Station (LCS) at Sabroom without waiting for construction of bridge over Feni river. The MPs informed the minister, necessary infrastructures are available on both side of the border and people of Sabroom and Ramgarh has been demanding for long to reopen the LCS. On the issue of shifting of LCS of Khowai to Paharmura, Sitharaman has assured, she will take up the matter with MHA and MEA for the purposes of security clearance and cost sharing by both the Ministries for construction of new infrastructures and logistics.
On the issue of construction of bridge over river Feni, She said the Centre intended to move for development of Bangladesh through Tripura. Smt. Sitharaman assured to look into the matter to expedite building the bridge over Feni river as earliest as possible. On operationalisation of proposed Border Haat at Kamalpur and Dharmanagar border, the secretary of commerce has assured for early sanction of funds for construction of infrastructure first. 

MPs further discussed on constitution of Bamboo Board and she has promised to review the matter soon.
