AGARTALA, August 21 (TIWN):Chief Minister Manik Sarkar’s claim by thumping chest of corrupt free and best governed state in the country fall flat after Central government blacklisted an organization run by Sarkar’s government. The name of the blacklisted organization was mentioned in the website of central government, in future no grants from centre will be given. The name of the organization is – Tripura Apex Weavers Co – operative Society better known as “Tantumitaâ€. It was given a grant of Rs 3.35 lakhs by Union Ministry of Women and Child Welfare in the 1998. The sanctioned amount was given in four phases from 1999 to 2013, whereas the amount was siphoned off depriving the beneficiaries. Till date officials of Tantumita failed to give utilization certificate to the central government even after repeated reminder for last two years. Even letter was written to than minister of social welfare department, principal secretary Banmali Sinha and Nepal Sinha and director. But no steps was taken, all dodged the issue. At last on 18 September, 2013 the centre along with 48 NGOs issued show cause notice to the state government undertaking organization. Even after two years, no reply was given to the notice as the whole amount was siphoned off. Finally on 29 June, 2015 centre blacklisted the state government organization.
It is not new, due to laxity and proper monitoring of officials of Social Welfare and Industry department another state government undertaking organization was also blacklisted by centre. Tripura Handloom and Handicrafts Development Department better known as “ Purbhasa” is famed blacklisted organization of the country. This organization was givne a grant to train 2500 women, but the whole grant was siphoned off leading to the blacklisting of the organization.
