AGARTALA, August 16 (TIWN): In this so called age of “Golden Era”, to our shock, allegedly only 21 accused are convicted to punishment against 563 separate rape cases in past 3 years in Tripura.
As per data revealed, in past three years from 2013, 2014 and 2015, 563 rape cases are reported with various police stations but in tenure of three years only 21 accused are convicted to punishment for the heinous crime.

It can be called as a clear reflection of the falling standards of investigation and negligence of police in Agartala. Crime in Agartala has almost touched the sky despite tall claims made by Tripura Police of putting their best foot forward.

Apart from being only raped, 4 women are also dragged to death after they were being raped. However there is also report of rape cases of three minors in the state.

It is shocking that many people lay the blame for being raped at the feet of women themselves and the government must launch a new drive to counteract this stereotypical 'blame culture'.

Only 21 are punished against 563 rape cases over past 3 years rest of the other 542 are walking free, facing no consequences for the violent felony they have committed. Because rapists tend to be serial criminals, they move freely and pose a threat to the nation.

It might be possible that, the number of report of crime has declined but still everyday women are falling in the trap of crime and in societies with a patriarchal power structure and with rigid gender roles, women are often poorly equipped to protect themselves.

Rapists in Tripura are now enjoying the best of their time with the total collapse of police administration. One after another rape incidents are being conducted and indeed the entire womanhood is now under serious threat.

Mysteriously in most of the cases Woman Commission and its members are having nice time in air-conditioned packed rooms and cars roaming from one programme to another promoting the state govt. and claiming that the administration is looking forward for the safety of the women in the state.

The toll of rape cases in past 3 years has touched 563 and only 21 are punished which shows the clear failure of Tripura police in curbing the crime.

Rape and other crimes against women, minors has become a daily news feed here in the state with the govt. has put a serious negligence to it, as a result the rate of crimes is increasing at an alarming rate in Tripura following no action against the accused.
