12 cases of abduction in 2-year, according to the official report

AGARTALA, August 16 (TIWN): Despite of tall talks of the CPI-M led Government that there are no terrorism or violence in the state, a total of 18 people were abducted by the insurgents during the financial year 2013-14 and 2014-15, according to the reports.

However, it is worthy to mention that among 18 victims, 16 were recovered and 2 are still missing.

According to the official report, during the financial year 2013-2014, altogether 6 terrorist incidents were registered. Besides, again 6 terrorist incidents were registered during the financial year 2014-2015.

So far in a total of 12 terrorist incidents, 4 people were killed and 2 were injured.

However, in the current financial year 2015-2016 till now no case has been registered but the year is yet to complete.

The Indo-Bangladesh border has become more active as there are reports of insurgents, weapons, drugs crossing the border. 

According to the report published in various newspapers and channels, most of the time reports buzz up regarding drugs, beef, turtles and many other toxic drugs are smuggled through cross borders.

The overall insurgency situation in the North-East region had improved a lot now because of sustained laudable efforts by the Army, state police and paramilitary forces.

But it has not become free from insurgency situation in Tripura. Despite of tight security in the border areas, the smuggling has become rampant in the Khowai District, Sonamura under Sepahijala District and in many other interior parts of the state.

Tripura shares 109-km border with Mizoram and 53-km border with Assam. The NLFT guerrillas, with their base in Bangladesh, have been kidnapping people in Tripura and Mizoram to extort ransom money.

Terrorism in India, according to the Home Ministry, poses a significant threat to the people of India.
