Ruling CPM using administration and party strength to secure victory: Oppositions still in slumber

KAMALPUR, August 16 (TIWN): The Municipal Council and Nagar Panchayat election got scheduled to hold on December next. And the ruling and dominating CPIM party skilfully made the administration and the party wings to work in favour of the victory. Delimitation got already completed with much controversy in different areas. The opposition parties though showed a timid protest but it did nothing to the rulers and their plans. On the other hand, the oppositions parties like Congress, BJP and Trinamool got dipped into slumber and occasional media interviews.

The same scenario prevailed here at Kamalpur Nagar Panchayat and Ambassa Municipal Council in Dhalai district.

At Kamalpur there remained many issues like not being uplifted into Municipal Council, awkward naming of roads, having no park or other public-amusement system, deplorable condition of roads, lack of central school, mismanagement of wastes etc in and around the Nagar Panchayat area.

The present CPIM ruled board in power promised to resolve all those problems before be in power five years ago. But most of the problems remained the same. More importantly, the District hospital and the Court got shifted to Ambassa. In last election Congress secured three wards among 11. But after the Assembly poll and Lok Sabha poll the opposition virtually got divided. Many supporters and workers of Congress joined hands with CPIM. Many others joined TMC. And the vibrant saffron wave made many more to join BJP. In this scenario CPIM occupied the most dominant position here. Then the opposition got divided into factions which would never fight united. And more seriously, none of the opposition parties found to bring up movements in greater public interest. Neither party adopted any party programmes. Whereas, the CPIM got busy with works and propaganda every day. Hence the land sliding victory of CPIM in December poll remained a matter of announcement here at Kamalpur.

The same scenario prevailed at Ambassa. Though Congress, the party in power there threatened with strong movement and even to knock the High Court regarding delimitation issue, but it seemed a mere media sensation. And Ambassa also set to have the same fate like Kamalpur in December.
