Trinamool celebrates 69th Independence Day

AGARTALA, August 15 (TIWN): The celebration of the 69th Independent Day has been observed at the Trinamool Bhavan, Motorstandon Friday.

Chairman of Trinamool party of the state Ratan Chakraborty has hoisted the National Flag followed by the National Anthem.

However, this year in 2015, India is celebrating its 69th Independence Day. People pay tribute and remember all freedom fighters who has contributed and fight for Independence of India.

The first Independence Day was celebrated in India on 15th of August in 1947.

The members of the party pay tribute to the martyrs, in the presence of the members of Indian National Trinamool Trade Union Congress.

The All India Trinamool Congress (abbreviated AITC, TMC or Trinamool Congress) is an Indian regional political party based in West Bengal.

Founded on 1 January 1998 as a breakaway faction of the Indian National Congress, the party is led by its founder and current Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee.

Prior to the 2014 general election it was the sixth largest party in the Lok Sabha with 19 seats; following that election, it is currently the fourth largest party in the Lok Sabha with 34 seats.

On 15 August 1947, Jawaharlal Nehru, who had become the first Prime Minister of India that day, raised the Indian national flag above the Lahore Gate of the Red Fort in Delhi.

The holiday is observed throughout India with flag-hoisting ceremonies, parades and cultural events. Indians celebrate the day by displaying the national flag on their attire, accessories, homes and vehicles; by listening to patriotic songs, watching patriotic movies; and bonding with family and friends.
