Railway minister assures for opening railway recruitment board

NEW DELHI/AGARTALA August 15 (TIWN): In a meeting with the MPs from Tripura Jitendra Chaudhury, Shankar Prasad Dutta and Jharna Das Baidya, Minister of Railways Suresh Prabhu has assured the delegation to actively consider the proposals of creation of a new Division at Agartala and opening a new Centre of Railway Recruitment Board.

Three MPs from Tripura Jitendra Chaudhury, Shankar Prasad Dutta and Jharna Das Baidya met Suresh Prabhu, Minister of Railways and Ashoke Gajapati Raju, Minister of Civil Aviation, on Thursday in their offices at Railway Bhawan and Safdarjung Airport. The MPs has handed over two memorandum containing of the issues related to their Ministries. The senior officers of the two Ministries were also present in the meeting

However, Railway Minister has informed, he invited his counterpart in Bangladesh to discuss on the ongoing projects and connecting the Chittagong Sea Port is very much in his mind. Bangladesh Minister is expected to visit New Delhi shortly.

Executive Director Transportation (IRTS), Manoj K. Akhouri has informed that Ministry of external affairs (MEA) has already accorded sanction to conduct survey on the Belonia - Feni Revival Project, and now waiting for clearance from the Bangladesh side

Sources confirmed that Civil Aviation Minister Ashoke Gajapati Raju has assured the delegation to take all possible measures that during festival season the passengers do not suffer from any inconvenience. The proposed project of Multi-facility Terminal Building of international standard shall be discussed in the next Board meeting of Air India.

The AAI officers present in the meeting has informed that it will take another 8 to 10 months to complete the technical formalities, by this time they will start construction of the boundary wall at the outer periphery.

The MPs has requested the AAI to add the Cargo Complex also in this new project, as Tripura produces huge varieties of fruits and vegetables, which are perishable and not transportable by other means of transport. On the issue of development and operationalisation of Kailashahar and Kamalpur Airports, the MPs has strongly urged the Minister to approach the DoNER for NLCPR fund, if Finance Ministry is not agreeable to release fund for land acquisition.

Rohit Nandan, Chairman, Air India has assured the delegation to re-examine the proposal of restoring ATR services.
