 Tripura to get more CNG station, Tapan Chakraborty

AGARTALA, August 13 (TIWN): With the aim to turn Tripura into a green city, efforts are in full swing to run vehicles by compressed natural gas (CNG), and government is further planning to set up more CNG station in more 7 sub-division, said Industries & Commerce minister Tapan Chakraborty.

At present there are 3 CNG mother stations in Tripura and state government is further planning to get more number of CNG station.

Apart, government is also planning to open one more CNG mother station at Chandrapur and later to open daughter booster station at Teliamura, Khowai and Bisalgarh.

 With the pipe line gas from Udaipur Palatana, the authority is planning to run a CNG station at Udaipur followed by daughter booster station at Santirbazar, Belonia, Sonamura and Amarpur sub-division.

 The new CNG stations will cater the need of CNG fueled vehicles in different districts.

 Keeping in view of increasing number of CNG run vehicles, the authority is planning to set up few more station on the state to cater the need of the people.

 However, Minister Tapan Chakraborty further said that there are 3 CNG mother station at AD Nagar, TRTC Complex Krishnagar and Khayerpur.

Although the opening of any new station depends on the availability of gas in the areas and laying of gas pipe lines.

Any daughter booster can be set up in the area within a distance of 60 km from the CNG mother station, added Chakraborty. And after proper vigilance it is found that CNG station can be build in all the sub-divisions.

However, it is to be mentioned that so far as per the documents till 31st July, gas pipe line is already laid in 60 percent of the AMC area.

Till the year 2015, authority have targeted 4, 000 household to be connected with the piped natural gas. The TNGCL had already connected 17, 996 households with the PNG lines till March 31, 2015.

At the meantime the TNGCL had also targeted to connect at least 10, 000 households with the PNG lines by 2016, though it has not been confirmed yet.

To cater the increasing number of CNG fueled vehicles, the TNGCL has already set up a mother CNG  refilling station at Udaipur and in this regard TNGCL to set up 4 daughter boosters at Amarpur, Shantirbazar, Belonia, and Sonamura.
