DoNER Ministry sanctions Rs. 9.88 crore for NE states, Tripura in 2014-15 FY

AGARTALA, August 13 (TIWN): The Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) had sanctioned a total of Rs. 9.88 crore fund for the northeastern states and Tripura for the financial year 2014-15, the recently concluded monsoon assembly session was informed. However, for the financial year the ministry had sanctioned a total fund of Rs. 126 crore for the proposed 10 projects in the state which was though not discussed in the assembly session.Replying to the question moved by the opposition MLA Ratan Lal Nath, the state Minister for planning commission Chief Minister Manik Sarkar said that during the financial year 2013-14 the DoNER Ministry had sanctioned Rs. 29.89 crore for 5 centrally sponsored projects in the state.Sarkar also informed that amongst the Rs. 29.89crore the state government has spend only Rs. 8.66 crore and the rest of the fund of Rs. 21.23 crore remained unspent.Besides, amongst the Rs. 9.88 crore sanctioned fund for the financial year 204-15 the state government had spend the entire fund for only 1 project being sanctioned for the state, Sarkar informed the assembly.However, despite the state government had in this financial year 2015-16 got a nod of Rs. 126 crore fund sanctioned by the DoNER for at least 10 centrally sponsored projects the recently concluded assembly was informed that no fund has been sanctioned for Tripura in this FY.

The Ministry had already sanctioned fund of Rs. 126 crore for several projects to be implemented here in Tripura.

For the improvement of Bishalgarh (NH-44)-Taksapara-Sonamura Road (32 Km) the ministry had sanctioned Rs. 63.10 crore. Whereas for the proposed extension of Piped Natural Gas (PNG) nateork in and around the state capital Rs. 7.03 crore has been sanctioned.

Besides, for the most stressed on river valley catchments erosion control project of Howrah River in Tripura the DoNER ministry had sanctioned Rs. 5.99 crore.

The senior official had earlier said that the second highest fund of Rs. 14.06 crore had been sanctioned by the ministry for water supply arrangement in rural areas of West Tripura, Khowai, Sepahijala Districts by sinking and development of Deep Tube Well (DTW) schemes including construction of pump house, installation of pump set and laying distribution pipeline.

The total fund had been sanctioned for the Financial Year (FY) 2015-16.
