KHOWAI, August 12 (TIWN): After gigantic loot of MGNREGA fund which came under limelight, Workers across the rural state have been alleging irregularities in MGNREGA salary and wages. Nevertheless now a total 59 Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) employees of Mungaikami RD Block under Khowai District are not getting their wages from the last two months.
There are about 59 employees at different posts under MGNREGA scheme deprived of their monthly salary for last two months in Mungiakami RD Block under Khowai District. All the 59 employees are employed under state government.
Deprived of their salary for past two months the 59 employee’s staged demonstration in front of Mungiakami RD Block and raised slogan against the ruling government.
Hitting slogan against the state government with flags and festoons they criticized the negligence attitude of the ruling government and demanded to clear the salary of last two months.
Getting alarm, police and Tripura State Rifles (TSR) jawans rushed to the spot and tried to bring the situation under control.
Asked about the issue, an official of RD Department said that the workers are already paid for their 60-days working tennure. As they didn’t work for the rest of the days, they were not paid any salary as there is no salary without pay.
It is also to be mentionable here that Tripura is already under the limelight of massive corruptions and scams in MGNREGA fund. And besides, irregularities in MGNREGA salary and wages under almost every Panchayats of the state are often coming out highlighting the workers being deprived at large and often they show a protest in front of the panchayats. But the administration has been playing a role of a silent spectator, with the state government remaining silent.
