AGARTALA, August 12 (TIWN): Tripura Assembly on Tuesday discussed on the issue that so far a hefty amount of Rs 30, 12, 215 is being deposited under the exchequer of the state government from the violators of two-wheeler rider by the traffic department. MLA Gopal Chandra Roy in the 3rd day Tripura monsoon session of assembly on Tuesday stated the traffic department has fined an amount an Rs 30, 12, 215 after they pulled off the bike riders for not wearing helmets, and not being able to show the proper documents and for violating the traffic rules. In allegation of not wearing helmets, not carrying the driving license, disobeying the traffic rules, the traffic department has fined an amount of Rs 30, 12, 215 from 12,830 bike riders between January1, 2015 to 15 April 2015 and has submitted the money in the govt. exchequer. Accordingly, the traffic police collected the money through challans in the mentioned given period. A per the documents, Rs 41, 100 is collected from 89 two-wheelers at Dhallai district, Rs 1,64,100 from 397 bike riders at North Tripura district Rs 2,57,700 from 621 two-wheelers at Unakoti District, Rs 2,53,250, from 667 two-wheelers at Sipahijala district.
Rs 1,83,200 from 853 two- wheelers at Khowai, Rs 4,1,025 from 1591 two-wheelers at west Tripura district, Rs 1,6,500 from 279 bike riders at Gomati district and Rs1,90,150 from 388 from south District.
Meanwhile, the same is proving to be a convenient source of revenue collection for the authority as a hefty Rs. 30, 12, 215 has been collected from January to April of this year.
However, huge fine is collected from West district including an amount of Rs 4, 1,025 which is the highest in comparing to the other district.
