Teachers’ recruitment through TET by 2015: Minister in Assembly

AGARTALA, August 10 (TIWN): The seven members’ Teachers’ Recruitment Board formed this year by the state Left front Government is in the pipeline to recruit the primary level teachers from this year through the Teachers’ Eligibility Test (TET), said Higher Education Minister Tapan Chakroborty in state monsoon assembly session.

In a reply to the question moved by the opposition MLA Ratan Lal Nath Chakroborty said that as of now the government had not finalized the examination centers to recruit the teachers but the examinations would be conducted by this year.

The assembly was informed that the date has not yet been fixed for the conduction of TET examination.

The state government this year has given green signal to the National Council of Teachers' Education (NCTE) guidelines for recruitment of primary and upper-primary teacher with the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) made mandatory.

According to the NCTE guidelines passing the TET is compulsory. The TET examination will be in two sections - Paper 1 for teachers upto class five and Paper 2 upto class eight.

 In each paper there shall be examination in six sections and the total mark of 150 and to qualify the candidate has to get at least 60 percent mark.

The principal of Amarpur College Dr. Anup Dutta has been nominated as chairman of 7 member board. Chairman, Member Secretary and Exam Controller will act as full time member and remaining members will work as part time member.

The board will conduct TET exams for teachers from primary level to higher secondary level.

Besides, on a reply to the question moved by MLA Sudhan Das in the day 1 assembly session Minister Tapan Chakroborty said that the state government has already taken an initiative to recruit teachers for the schools which were upgraded to Senior Basic (SB) School from Junior Basic School, from SB schools to High School and for the schools upgraded to Higher secondary schools from Higher Schools.
