AGARTALA, August 8 (TIWN): To ease the everyday traffic jam at Battala junction following the construction work of the fly-over, the traffic department has listed out three different routes which the civilian can use to avoid the daily traffic congestion.Traffic SP Sriti Ranjan Das said that the three substitute routs are- the TV tower road which connects to Granduce. Another road which the civilian can use is through by-pass to Motor stand via Jogendra Nagar. Besides, another route which is identified by the traffic department is the By-pass route to Motor stand via Khoyarpur, he added. Regretting over the pathetic situation of the traffic congestion, Das said that the routes are open for the movement of the vehicles. If the people are facing traffic congestion which is obvious then they can use the above mentioned substitute routes. He also said that when the construction work of the fly over will expand, widen portion of the road will be occupied with the raw materials and no vehicular movements will be allowed. Therefore, the people had to use the substitute route for their daily up-down. Adding to it, he said that if the people want they can use the route from now itself.

Construction of underground foundation of pillar is underway said PWD Engineer Sunil Bhowmik. With the ongoing days, the construction of the fly-over work is underway in full swing from Battala to Drop gate area with the aim to complete the entire work by 30 months as fixed by the Tripura government.

However, the soil testing work is currently in progress at the mentioned route and is likely to take the stretch towards Fire brigade Chowmuhni very soon. The soil testing is already completed at Bordowali area and is going in full fleged manner at Milan Sangha area.

For the next two years and possibly more the traffic congestion is going to get worse.

Once fly over is constructed, vehicles from the Nagerjala bus stand will continue to ply on the same path which is expected to reduced the traffic congestion.

The first ever 2-lane flyover in the capital city will lower the traffic jam by at least 40% to 45% and it will make a smooth fast track movement of the vehicles.

The main motive of creating the Fly-Over Bridge is to seek solution to hectic traffic jam at Battala. As day by day the population and the number of vehicles are increasing, the problems arise in traffic system too.
