KHOWAI, July 28 (TIWN): Khowai district and session court on Monday announced life term imprisonment to one Milan Debbarma in allegation of killing his wife.
The accused is a resident of Gumsingh area under Champahour police station.
The incident took place when Milan Debbarma on May 29 went to his in-laws house with his wife Sarmila Debbarma. Reportedly, the next morning on 30 May when both of them went for bath in the nearby pond he killed his wife and flew away from the spot.
Suspicion grew among the mind of the parents of Sharmila, when she did not return from the pond till late in the evening.
After several attempt of searching her body was found from a deep ditch in a decomposed condition with grievous injuries in most of the parts of the body.
Later the deceased father Sashimohan debbarma lodged complaint with the champahour police and accordingly police arrested the accused husband Milan Debbarma.
It is alleged by the family members of the deceased that Milan Debbarma used to regularly torches his wife for dowry since their marriage and he always harassed his wife for money.
However, after hearing to the statement of the eye-witness on June 23, the Khowai district and session court on Monday send the accused to life term imprisonment.
