Dasharath Deb Memorial PHC facing power disruption

KHOWAI, July 24 (TIWN): Dasharath Deb Memorial Primary Health Centre at Padmabil area of Ratanpur ADC village under Khowai sub-division has been running deplorable after Rs. 15 lakhs of generator and in non-operational position, hampering the treatment going on in the hospital when there is power cut.

The hospital has been facing prolonged load shedding and to avoid the disruption of power cut during the treatment of the patience the hospital authority has managed to buy a generator.  

The generator was brought, spending Rs. 15 lakh and had given good service for 2month in the beginning and later due to adequate shortage of fuel the authorities have stopped running the generator, said Dr. Tapan Debbarma.

The hospital authorities have asked several times the Health department for the fuel but till day no response has come yet, he added.

After that the hospital has been running depending on the blinking candles, said Debbarma.

Debbarma said due to the disruption of power in the centre the doctors including the patients have been facing pathetic situation. Most of the time, patient had to suffer delay after the machines stopped working in between the treatment due to prolonged power cut.

This situation has created chaos in the Primary Health Centre.

He said that most of the times the hospital faces 6 hours of power cut and after storm the hospital faces 2-3 days of load shedding leaving the life of the patients in pathetic situation.

Besides, the Primary Health Centre does not have any ambulance service and also faces adequate shortage of drinking water facility.

The Primary Health Centre was inaugurated in the year 2013 of October by Industries & Commerce Minister Tapan Chakraborty.
