AGARTALA, July 7 (TIWN): To take a stock of the situation of the ongoing project funded by the Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), the Secretary for the ministry R. Vijaykumar on Tuesday arrived here in Tripura for four days. Vijaykumar held meeting with the State Chief Secretary Yashpal Singh in presence of the government representatives here at the secretariat. According to the official, Vijaykumar had visited here to take a stock of the situation of the on-going project works under the central scheme and being funded by the DoNER Ministry. It has also been learnt that following a call from the Tripura Government to draw an action plan for the allocation of resources among the states in the Northeast region to avoid discrepancy and irrational distribution of funds, the DoNER Secretary had come here to visit several project works. R. Vijaykumar would stay here for four days and is expected to visit Agartala GB Pant Hospital, Amtali Ramkrishna Mission, Agartala-Akhaura rail project site, construction site of the Agartala flyover and others.
However, Secretary Dr.R. Vijaykumar is also scheduled to hold a meeting with CM Manik Sarkar on July 10.
It is worthy to mention here that for the proposed and green signaled Indo-Bangla railway project work the DoNER Ministry had refused to floor the fund following which the Ministry of Railways, Government of India had assured to fund for the project.
Besides, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar had earlier demanded strengthening of the ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DONER) by creating proper infrastructure for implementation of work.
Sarkar said that the state government demanded for formation of an engineering team in the ministry headed by a retired engineer so that it could clear the projects in due time.
