KAMALPUR, June 30 (TIWN): The process of bye-election for two assembly constituencies in the State ended with the counting and declaration of results today. As per popular speculations, the CPIM candidate Anjan Das grabbed a huge victory of 15, 309 votes over his nearest candidate from BJP, Asis Das. BJP emerged here as the second largest party. And the plight of Congress continued as the party slipped to the third place.
Amidst tight security, the counting of vote started at 8 am this morning at the Kamalpur Government Class XII School. In the four round counting, Anjan leaped far more advance from the other contesting candidates from the very first round.
In total Anjan bagged 23, 275 votes. While his nearest contestant Asis Das from BJP secured unimaginable 7966 votes. Congress candidate Nagendra Biswas slid to the third position with 2528 votes. Independent candidate Sushil Malakar secured 332 votes. NOTA option grabbed a significant 428 votes. Among a total of 42, 052 voters a total of 34529 voters casted their votes in the bye-election poll held on 27th June last.
It is noteworthy that, Anjan increased his margin well over the Assembly poll difference of 1885, by which former and deceased MLA Sudhir Das secured his fifth consecutive win.
