AGARTALA, June 30 (TIWN): After the Tripura Left front Government got to cancel the fake Scheduled Caste (SC) certificate of former CPI-M leader Partha Das during the year 2012 another fake degree row here in Tripura after Delhi HRD Minister Smriti Irani has once again brought a major setback to the politics of the communist party here. CPI-M MLA Keshab Debbarma is accused for pursuing fake educational degree. Empowered by the Election Commission of India (ECI) to move to the High Court the Tripura Youth Congress Committee on Monday staged a protest rally across the capital city demanding for the resignation of CPI-M MLA Keshab Debbarma.

The youth congress on Monday staging the protest rally had claimed, “If the Communist Party in Delhi can demand the resignation of HRD Minister Smriti Irani, then how come Chief Minister Manik Sarkar being a polit buro member back tracked from taking action against the MLA Keshab Debbarma.”

However, on Monday talking to TIWN Opposition Leader Sudip Roy Barman said, “We are preparing the files and documents to move to the High Court to disqualify Keshab Debbarma.”

The congress had earlier written to the ECI and the state election commission unearthing the fake degree row of the CPI-M MLA Keshab Debbarma following which the congress has recently been empowered by the ECI to move to the court against the issue.

It is worthy to be mentioned here that earlier during the year 2012 another CPI-M leader Partha Das was accused of procuring fake SC certificate and later was cancelled by the state government. Despite the CPI-M here in Tripura has got no lesson learned and got to keep MLA Keshab Debbarma who managed to contest the 2008 and 2013 lok sabha election using his fake educational degree.

Barman has written to the ECI complaining that Golaghati constituency MLA Keshab Debbarma has furnished differing educational qualifications in two state-wide election affidavits. The affidavits mentioned that during the year 2008 CPI-M MLA Keshab Debbarma had appeared for Madhyamik Examinations under the TBSE in 1992 whereas in the year 2013 Debbarma again mentioned in the affidavit that he had passed the Madhyamik examination during the year 1989 under the state board.

CPI-M MLA Keshab Debbarma with his unearthed fake degree in respect of education had managed to won the Golaghati constituency in both the 2008 and 2013 elections by raking in more than half the total votes each time whereas on the other the CPI-M at Delhi has been demanding for an action against HRD Minister Smriti Irani for similar case like Debbarma here.

Even as a Delhi Court prepares to hear a fake degree case against HRD Minister Smriti Irani shortly after Delhi Minister Jitender Singh Tomar was arrested on similar grounds, the Congress in Tripura has asked the Election Commission of India to disqualify a ruling Communist Party of India (Marxist) MLA over yet another such case.
