SONAMURA, June 28 (TIWN): Under Rajib Gandhi Khel Abhiyan project, Mohonbhog block, Sonamura has sanctioned 1.60 crore for making sports-complex. To extend the facilities of sports related infrastructures and to elevate the level of sports here in the state, this plan has been taken.

Youth Affairs and Sports Dept. Director Banajit Bagchi said, “already 80 lakhs for the indoor complex and more 80 lakhs for outdoor complex have been sanctioned from the centre.”

Moreover in total 6 Ekar land has been planned to use for this total plan including indoor and outdoor complex. A block level monitoring committee will also be made very soon. The work will be gone under their supervision.

With the initiatives of Panchayat Samiti of Mohonpur and Youth Affair and Sports Dept. a football tournament was organized at Kamrangatali J. B. School’s play ground from 16^th to 22^nd July with the aims to to inspire local youth in sports and games. The participators were under 14 years. In total of 8 teams participated in that tournament.

Hence it’s to be mentioned that Tripura’s sports infrastructure is really very poor which reflects the negligence of the govt. in this sports-affairs. But huge amount of moneys are sanctioned in the name of sports, with no “effect” on Tripura’s sports. So such investments by the centre in the name of sports of Tripura should not be taken lightly and state should develop its sport-infrastructure as soon as possible.
