AGARTALA, June 28 (TIWN): Remembering R. D. Burman, who is considered one of the seminal music directors of the Indian Film Industry Tripura capital Agartala has observed his 76th birth anniversary at Najrul Kalaskhetra at 6.00 PM. The programme was held with the initiatives of Mega Service and along with the cultural programmes free-eye test was also done.

The programme was entirely dedicated in the name of R.D. Burman who was also the only son of Sachin Debbarman, a legend from Tripura’s kings’ dynasty and as well as a great artist.

Many cultural programmes have been done by various artists and renowned singers of Tripura as Amarnath Bani, Amar Ghosh dedicated songs in the honor of RD Burman. The programme has been followed by diverse songs and dances.

It is to be mentioned here that R. D. Burman was an artist with the quality of his extra ordinary musical notes. He brought a change in Indian music and gave a new life into it by using Latin sounds, cabaret, psychedelic vibes, retro disco and funk sounds. His songs are still remembered and sung by the youth; musicians often take to remake and remix his songs.

RD Burman composed music for total 331 movies. R.D. Burman did major works with Asha Bhoshle (his wife) and Kishore Kumar and also Lata Mangeshkar. He served as an influence to the next generation of Indian music directors, and his songs continue to be popular in India even after his death.

It’s interesting to note that Burman is better known as “Pancham Da”. The reason is not clear why he is called “Pancham Da” but according to few beliefs it’s said that he used to cry in the fifth note of music 'pa' -pancham in his childhood and hence the name was given.
