Manik proclaims: 'Swabalambana Progam' has failed to make state-people 'Self-dependent'

AGARTALA, June 28 (TIWN): “Our aim is to make every person self dependent in the state”, claimed Manik Sarkar on a recently held meeting with the Dept. of Information and Cultural Affair (ICA) focusing on the project under of “Swabalambana Progam”. In this meeting Tapan Chakraborty, Ministry of Industries and Commerce (Including IT), Y.P. Singh, Chief Secretary, M. Nagaraju, Director of Industry and Commerce along with the officers from Industry and Commerce were present.

Till now in total, 11, 279 people have been beneficiated from this project and now the govt. will think how to make all people of the state self-dependent especially women, who need further progress. During the meeting it had been announced that in total of 3,500 persons are to be brought under the project to make the state “self-dependent” in this running year 2015.

This project was initiated in 2001 following which a person can get the maximum of Rs. 2 lakhs rupees as loan, from the banks. Under this project any person will get the subsidy of 25 percent of the total amount, whereas women will get 35 percent of subsidy of the whole amount. It is to be mentioned here that already 11, 279 people have come under the subsidy- beneficiaries and more than 178 crores of money have been sanctioned under the project, from various banks. From the state govt. in total of 27,03,48000/- amount has been sanctioned as subsidy. The State Govt. is keeping an eye to bring 3500 people under the project in 2015.

Stressing upon the importance of Govt.’s duty, Chief Minister said that Dept. of Industry and Commerce would be more active to make the people of the state “self-dependent”. Banks should be taken under notice, so that they help the Governmental project to be succeeded.

However, agreeing the fact that after investing lots, the “state is failed to make a single person self-reliant” Chief Minister said that the matter would be studied now, to find out the cause behind this failure, so that in future this Swabalambana Progam can make the state’s people self-reliant.
