AGARTALA, June 27 (TIWN): Just after the by-polling for two SC constituencies at Tripura 13-Pratapgarh and 46-Surma ended on Saturday 5:00 PM, the Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) as expectedly slammed the ruling CPI-M and its Left front Government for letting the voting turn into an administration aided rigging. Opposition leader Sudip Roy Barman on Saturday slamming the ruling CPI-M over the vote rigging said, “The CPI-M with its tendency to play dirty politics would never abide by the guidelines of the Election Commission of India.” Adding to that Barman asked, “Why this farce in the name of election?” He alleged, “In most of the selective booths at Pratapgarh constituency and Surma constituency the CPI-M cadres managed to attack the congress polling agents inside inpresent of the ‘Presiding cadres’.” Adding to that Barman alleged, “The vote rigging was done in many selected booths at the two constituencies to ensure their victory. This time, the Left Front has directly involved the administrative officials like presiding officers, polling personnel in vote rigging who can also be also be called as ‘Presiding cadres’.”“Despite the written complaints to the Sector Officers against the CPI-M cadres and the presiding officers and later in spite of a stern warning by the SO the PO acting on behest of the CPI-M cadres had not taken any steps against them,” Barman alleged. Claiming that the democracy was totally mocked this time again by the CPI-M and its Left front government here in the state Barman further alleged, “A section of CPI-M cadres had forced the old aged voters to vote for them. Besides, the presiding officers worked at the behest of the CPI (M) party.”

However, the congress on Saturday accusing the CPI-M for rigging vote demanded for a re-election to those selective booths of both the constituencies where the CPI-M cadres engaged to rig votes. Barman claimed, “The CPI-M party do not have minimum faith upon the democracy of the state.”

Saying that the congress would write to the Chief Electoral Officer against the vote rigging Barman hoped, “Despite all odds the congress would sweep this election with majority votes in some of the seats under the two constituencies.”
