KHOWAI, June 27 (TIWN): A training program was held on Friday to train the prisoners, how to deal with various emergency situations and how to battle down “the risks of life” during natural calamities. In this program Disastrous Management Demonstration’s former project officer Arabinda Chowdhury was present and delivered his lectures to them about the “disastrous Management”.

Many practical examples were also shown to the prisoners as prisoners are often the highest victims of natural calamities. So, ow to deal with disasters as earth quake, fire-broke-out, flood etc. were the topic of discussion during the training program.

It is to be mentioned that the sparse evidences show that the prisons and prisoners are particularly vulnerable in facing natural hazards. And the ways to save the prisoners are virtually not at all possible.

Thus such trainings are really appreciable for giving the prisoners the minimum knowledge of disastrous management as when Tripura falls under one of the strong earth quake zones.

But it’s worthy to mention here that often prisoners here in Tripura, and also even in other states of India can not move freely and dependent upon external resources. So to cope with such situations are really hard.

As the prisoners are generally illiterate, so the information which are delivered are often unable to hit the mind of them, so the team under Disastrous Management Demonstration tried to make the prisoners learned by practical ground of studies.

Moreover, prisoners are negatively considered within the society so they often kept aside to die lonely. So such initiatives for the prisoners by the Govt. are really praise worthy.
