Kamalpur: Role of DWS in implementing IGDC came under huge allegation

KAMALPUIR, June 27 (TIWN): The saga of IGDC project implementation in the three ADC villages under Salema Block came under huge allegation of embezzlement. And the allegation seemed quite true and might reach beyond imagination as one line department DWS happily embezzled in implementation of their allotted works of 1, 27, 44, 000 rupees for three ADC villages.

According to the memorandum no. F.3-80/IGDC/DPMA-10/Dev, the Shimbukchak ADC village was sanctioned an amount of 6, 15, 35, 535 rupees. In memorandum no. F.3-20/IGDC/DPMA-10/Dev the Setrai ADC village was sanctioned an amount of 6, 08, 50, 004 rupees. In memorandum no. F.3-46/IGDC/DPMA-10/Dev, the Mendi ADC Village was sanctioned an amount of 12, 91, 52, 637 rupees.  And the DWS Division was allotted an amount of 1, 27, 44, 000 rupees for setting up of village level infrastructure and livelihood regarding drinking water and sanitation through the mentioned memorandums seperately for each village.

In case of Shimbukchak ADC Village, DWS department was allotted a total of 21, 05, 000 rupees for village level infrastructure. 10, 00, 000 rupees were sanctioned for two Deep Tube Wells; 1, 80, 000 rupees were allotted for ten Ring Wells;’ for four kilometers of drinking water supply line 8, 00, 000 rupees were allotted and for water tank construction 1, 00, 000 rupees were sanctioned for two tanks. And 25, 000 rupees more were allotted for reconstruction of one water tank. For Mendi ADC village 87, 84, 000 rupees were allotted to DWS. 40, 00, 000 rupees were sanctioned for Deep Tube Well; Ring Well for 4, 24, 000 rupees; 50, 000 rupees for water tank and 43, 84, 000 rupees for sanitary latrines. Regarding the Setrai ADC village, the DWS division was allotted 3, 60, 000 rupees for ring well; 8, 00, 000 rupees for masonry well; 1, 25, 000 rupees for mark-II; 1, 50, 000 rupees for harvesting tank; 4, 00, 000 rupees for storing water and 20, 000 rupees for setting pump. All the works according to the villagers although ended in documents most of them remained unusable. Rest of the works collapsed within a short period of time. And almost sixty percent of the allotted works were never implemented by the authority. Now, the saga of the project in case of other line departments also reported to be the same. Who would look into the matter in this so-called ‘golden regime’ remains the question of the hour.
