Preparation on the peak for by-election, CPMF deployed

AGARTALA, June 25 (TIWN): Keeping eye on the by-election, Central Paramilitary Forces are being deployed in the 13-Pratapgarh and 46-Surma Constituency for safety conduct of the by-election which is slated to be held on June 27.

It is to be mentioned here that almost all the political parties here in Tripura have geared up for the upcoming by-elections slated to be held on June 27, 2015.  

Preparation is on the peak for the up-coming by-election and as a part of administrative routine, altogether 80 Electronic Voting Machines (EVM) are being scrutinized by the officials for the smooth cast of votes during the by-election.

A total of 92,146 voters would caste vote for the by-elections in two assembly constituencies here in Tripura Pratapgarh and Surma. Amongst the 92, 146 voters, 50004 are from Pratapgarh constituency and 42142 voters are from Surma constituency.

Tripura to go for by-elections poll on June 27 in 62 polling stations at Pratapgarh constituency and another 54 polling stations in Surma constituency. Around 600 polling personals would be engaged to the election procedure.

However, the campaign for the by-election would come to end on Thursday evening by 5.

To ensure greater transparency and avoid confusion in the minds of voters, the Election Commission has decided that electronic voting machines (EVMs) would henceforth display images of the contestants along with their names and party symbols

The new system would be operational for the first time during the June 27 by-elections to six assembly constituencies in five states comprising of Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Meghalaya, Tamil Nadu and Tripura.

Counting of votes would be held on June 30, as per ECI notification. However, the scrutiny of the nomination papers is done.

The ECI on its notification declared that the polling for by-elections in the mentioned state would start from 8:00 AM and would be continued till 5:00 PM. The elections will be completed by July 2, 2015, issued ECI. The commission has decided that the voter’s identification shall be mandatory in the aforementioned by-elections at the time of poll. Electoral photo identity card (EPIC) shall be the main document of identification of a voter.

The model of conduct shall come into force with the immediate effect in the districts in which the whole or any part of the Assembly Constituency going for by-election is included, ECI decided.
