AGARTALA, June 23 (TIWN): Expressing displeasure over the nastiest situation of the sports here in Tripura, Tripura Governor Tathagata Roy on Tuesday addressing the 121st Olympic Day celebration here in Tripura organised by the Tripura State Olympic Association said, “The corruption and dirty politics have greatly indulged the sports and its environment here in Tripura.†Adding to that Governor said, “This needs to be restored and the sports needs to be rescued immediately to excel the power of sports among the present generation youths of the state.â€The main programme was organised on Tuesday at Agartala Nazrul Kalakshetra to mark the 121st World Olympic Day. Opposition leader Sudip Roy Barman along with Tripura State Olympic Association President MLA Gopal Chandra Roy and other delegates remained present during the programme.Governor addressing the programme on Tuesday also said, “The two programme organised today to mark the Olympic Day has really shocked me as the two state level association has been set up here in Tripura.â€However, later Opposition leader Sudip Roy Barman addressing the gathering said, “One cannot deny to the fact that there is a lack of infrastructures and outlook in sports here in Tripura as the State Government had failed to bring a better opportunity for the youngsters of the present generation and also failed to explore the sports here in Tripura.â€
Barman said, “A section of politicians here in Tripura had indulged the environment of sports due to which only the fund rising has only become the matter of concern for the State government.” Adding to that Barman had urged the Governor Tathagata Roy to guardian the sports infrastructure and restores the problems here.
It is worthy to mention here that several controversies erupted with the Government organisation the so called “Tripura Olympic Association”. It was alleged that the association owned by the state government here has no affiliation to the Indian Olympic Association and is greatly engaged to dirty politics currently.
