BELONIA, June 23 (TIWN): Corruption has not even left the simple enrollment procedure of ADHAAR card at Belonia. Over past few months, the authority has opened a temporary ADHAAR counter section for the re-enrollment of left out people under ADHAAR card registration due to several issues at the Belonia sub-division on every Sunday at Belonia Sub-divisional office.

The decision was taken by the concerned authority to make possible for the dwellers of the area, enrolled their names in the list of ADHAAR card.

Interestingly, it was seen that over past few months at regular intervals, the brokers at the sub-divisional offices who were appointed under the employees of the sub-divisional office for enrolling the name of the people under the scheme of ADHAAR card were charging a hefty amount of money from the people for instant enrollment of their names in the category of the ADHAAR card, whereas enrolling name under ADHAAR card is free of cost.

It is alleged by that the people who come from the interior areas are being harassed by the brokers to give money for enrolling the names and if they deny paying money they are not allowed to take pictures for en-rolling their names in ADHAAR card.

The people further alleged that the brokers torches the people every now and then and denies enrolling the name of the public by giving the excuse of poor condition of machine, improper documents and incomplete filing of application and others.

However, last Sunday also the common people have faced this crisis and have informed the concerned authority.

Getting alarm food controller reached the spot and scrutinized the work process of the enrollment of the people under ADHAAR card.

Talking to SDM Brahmanir Kour of Belonia said that he is aware of the corruption and has given a written complaint to the Nodal officer at Agartala and further gave assurance that he will look into the matter and if required he will take the help of police for curbing the level of corruption.
