BELONIA, June 22 (TIWN): A section of students of different Schools of Belonia sub-division hit the streets of Belonia city on Monday, demanding to legitimize the private tuition.

Students of Bidyapeeth Higher Secondary School, Bajendra Kishore Institution, Belonia Government English medium and Aryya Colony Higher Secondary School participated at the procession held to object the decision Tripura High Court’s regarding banning private tuition.

In response to the opinion of Tripura High Court, a section of students have expressed dissatisfaction over the banning of private tuition in the state.

After they staged procession over the Belonia city, a group of five students visited the Sub-Divisional Magistrate office and placed a deputation by saying that the State Government should not agree with the court’s decision. After receiving the deputation, Sub-Divisional Magistrate Dr. Brahmajit Kaur said that he will be forwarding the deputation to the higher authority.

The procession has started after the students visited the schools on Monday morning, with an aim to stage procession on the streets of Belonia the students of the concern schools met at Aryya Colony Higher Secondary School and started their journey against the opinion of Tripura High Court.

It has been seen that the students were headed by none of the teachers, nor by any guardians. This situation fumes quite fishy among the locals; allegedly it is not possible for the teenage students to stage procession by themselves.

Locals are suspecting that the teachers who are involved in the tuition business may have washed the brains of the students to stage procession over the city of Belonia for the sake of saving their business which has been run illegally.

Allegedly the locals further expressed that the teachers are getting hefty amount from the concern schools where they are been employed for prolonged days and therefore the ban in the practice of private tuition by the employed teachers of private and public school should not hamper their livelihood. Rather, if the tuitions are conducted by the unemployed literate people then it would be helpful for spending their livelihood.

The locals also added that the teachers who are engaged in the practice of private tuitions, charge huge amount of fees and also teaching only whatever is there in the syllabus. They take least interest to teach the student for gaining knowledge, rather they concentrate only to make the student pass with good marks.

It has been also alleged that the teachers teach the students for the name-sake, and give marks based on the money or recognizing the faces who are taking tuition under the concern teacher. This process is not only hampering the students’ habits but also affecting the level of knowledge among the students who are the future of the state.

According to the students’ point of view, in this tough competitive world if the teachers turn-off their face from taking private tuition then it would be tough for them to pass the competitive exam.

However, the procession has thrilled the mind of the people in the sub-division, where some are standing against the Tripura High Court’s decision and some are supporting the decision.
