AGARTALA, June 22 (TIWN): As a part of country-wide programme, the Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) on Monday staged a mass convention at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan to enforce a nation based General Strike which will be held on September 2.

The strike will be enforced on September 2, discarding the decision taken by the Government to legalize the export-import business to run smoothly in the country through the implementation various departments like Insurance, Railway, Defence and many other important departments.

Enhancing to the issue, they further expressed terror over the investment done on the oil and the financial sectors at the national level which may bring huge loss for the nation including the loss for the common people. As for every loss, along with the Government the common people also had to suffer stress.

The National Convention also expressed disgrace over the recent land ordinance saying if the ordinance gets passed then the common people had to suffer a lot as with the implementation of this ordinance the Government can forcefully take the agricultural land from the farmers.

Disgracing on few more decision taken by the Government, the Convention demanded end the rectification on the labour act. They also demanded to take essential steps towards the demands made by all the Trade Union Organization of the states.

To enforce the general strike in full-fledged, the union will organize joint convention all over the nation with an initiatives to encourage the Labours and the common people to join the convention.  

During the programme, Education Minister Tapan Chakraborty, Rural Development (Panchayat) Manik Dey, General Secretary Sankar Prasad Datta and other were present at the programme.
