AGARTALA/ KANCHANPUR, June 22 (TIWN): In the age of so-called ‘golden era’ where every now and then the ministers claims about the development of the interior areas of the state, it is alleged that 62 families are deprived of the electricity facility at Kanchanpur Damchora area for past 2 years even after filling all the documentation required for the taking electricity connection.

All these 62 families are facing the most critical conditions for their survival. Most of the families fall under the umbrella of BPL category. In this village most of the people are landless. They have nothing of their own. They belong to the class of have-nots. They work hard and somehow arrange their two-square meal for their family members but they are not able to earn enough to live on, said a villager.

Reportedly, all the residents have submitted the required documents to the Kanchanpur electric sub-division office but even after several pleas other than getting assurance they are not getting any kind of facilities from the department.

Even after so much of tall claims made by the authorities, the poor villagers are not getting the electricity facility despite of placing the electric poles on the roads.

It is to be mentioned here that it was decided to provide electricity supply to these families and as per requirement the families have submitted all the required documents and money to the department but even after several years the families are deprived of electricity supply.

The localites stated that they have visited the Kanchanpur electric sub-division and talked with concerned authority but no electric connection is provided to the houses.

They further stated that the reason behind such deplorable condition of this families are also because of the poor electricity system of the village, which is mandatory for renovation in the coming days which will further lay the path for the development.

However, Damchora under kanchanpur sub-division is an area with an acute dearth of energy resources with over most of its population living in houses without a power grid connection. In such a scenario, grid systems will never cover up such large deficits of power supply and the only way to overcome this problem in rural and remote areas is to only wait for power supply to their homes.
