AGARTALA, June 22 (TIWN): Even after the passage of more than three months, Police failed to trace the culprit of expelled CPI-M leader Jiten Das’ wife Kalpana Das murder case. Talking to TIWN on Sunday the police source actively engaged to the investigation of the case said, “The investigation is under progress, but we are yet to receive the forensic report of the recovered knife which is suspected to be used to kill Kalpana Das.”Asked about the recent status of the investigation the police source said, “Though at this moment we can't open our mouth but we have several clues and evidences that accused husband Jiten Das involved in murder.”However, the passage of more than 3 months after Kalpana Das was murdered brutally allegedly by her husband Jiten Das has triggered serious questions with the lacklustre role of the police in the sensational murder case. Police so far had failed to use the lie-detector machine which would have at least bring major output and boost the case. But police source said, “Yes we have with us one lie-detector machine but we need not use the machine at this moment as we have already collected several clues and evidences and we are looking forward to gather more linked to the case.”

All the evidences that were collected so far accused the family members of Jiten Das. They were found actively involved to the case during the murder of Kalpana Das, said the source.

Interestingly, yet today the police managed to slog, “Investigation under progress”. Besides asked about the forensic report the police source said, “We have already send the recovered knife at the forensic lab abroad, but till now the report has not come, which is now delaying the case ultimately.” Expressing displeasure over the delay of the forensic report the source said that once the report comes we would be able to boost up our investigation and would help us at large find the main culprit.

It is to be mentioned here that recently the police managed to arrest another Kalpana Das, family member of accused Jiten Das suspecting her involved to the case. All the accused persons including the expelled CPI-M ‘blue eyed’ leader Jiten Das would be produced before the court again on June 26. The police would seek for jail custody to all the accused persons, said the source.

Kalpana Das was found murdered brutally allegedly by her husband Jiten Das on April 16 this year. However, later police managed to arrest the husband Jiten either under political pressure or might be under the pressure from the serious allegations raised against Jiten. Police also arrested Jiten’s two brother and another Kaplana Das, who is a family member of Jiten.
