AGARTALA/ MOHANPUR, June 21 (TIWN): Despite the Power Department claims of having inadequate supply of power in the state, the street lights in-front of the Mohanpur Sub-Division office glows even during the day time, for the last one week.

Where the State including the Mohanpur Municipal area is suffering due to disruption in the power supply, lights of Mohanpur Higher Secondary Schools auditorium remains ‘on’ after the doors are being locked. Though the information has been passed on to the concern authority, till day no keenness has been noticed among the authorities to volunteer the situation.

Agitated locals explode by saying, few days back an announcement has been made concerning to reduce the misuse of electricity in the area but today the scenario seems different. The locals further said that on the one side, the Power Department shows concern about the misuse of the electricity in the area, whereas on the other side they turn their eyes shut over the lightening of street lights in the day time.

When asked about the situation to the Manager of the Power Department, he remained mum and refused to say anything on the issue.

Though the Tripura State Electricity Corporation Ltd. has been set to facilitate the people with adequate amount the electricity in the state but the negligence of the concern department left the locals to suffer.

This incident leads the locals to raise question that when the concern department is busy in creating awareness among the locals then why they are not showing any eagerness to stop the misuse of electricity.

Further allegations has been raised by a section of locals of Mohanpur Municipal area that for the last one year 95 percent of street lights have been remaining in ineffective condition but no positive initiative has been taken to renovate the street lights.

However, in this golden era where the ruling Government has been assuring the public to develop the state, on the other hand families like Mohanpur Municipal Area are facing blackout day due to the negligence of the Department.
