AGARTALA, June 18 (TIWN): Keeping eye on the safety conduct of the by-election for 13-Pratapgarh and 46-Surma Constituency which is slated to be held on June 27, Election Commission has announced certain notifications which are mandatory to be followed for the safety conduct of by-election.
Firstly, as per the election rules, vote should be casted on the Electronic Voting Machine (EVM), Secondly, under Representation of the people act, the system of Electors photo identity card is introduced so that authentic voters can cast their votes and not the illegal unidentified person.
Further, the Election Commission has also instructed that authentic voters slip will be distributed soon for the genuine cast of votes.
Apart, the voters who will not be able to show their Electors Photo Identity Card (EPIC) card they have to show either of the any photo identity card from Passport, Driving License, Bank Pass book, PAN card, Adhaar card Smart card, REGA job Card, voters slip issued by election commission and others.
The commission has also instructed that as per rules, prior to 48 hours of the election no media can publish or broadcast any news in their medium.
However, By-elections for Pratapgarh and Surma assembly constituency in Tripura is scheduled to be held on June 27.
Counting of votes would be held on June 30, as per ECI notification. However, the scrutiny of the nomination papers is done.
The ECI on its notification declared that the polling for by-elections in the mentioned state would start from 8:00 AM and would be continued till 5:00 PM. The elections will be completed by July 2, 2015, issued ECI. The commission has decided that the voter’s identification shall be mandatory in the aforementioned by-elections at the time of poll. Electoral photo identity card (EPIC) shall be the main document of identification of a voter.
The model of conduct shall come into force with the immediate effect in the districts in which the whole or any part of the Assembly Constituency going for by-election is included, ECI decided.
It is to be mentioned here that almost all the political parties here in Tripura have geared up for the upcoming by-elections slated to be held on June 27, 2015.
