KAILASHAHAR, June 15 (TIWN): Due to the negligence of the concern Authority, for prolonged days the deplorable condition of the roads of Unakoti District remained harrowing experience for commuter of the area.
With the arrival of the monsoon, the Airport road and the road from G.K to Chirakuti is full of potholes and boulders hammering the daily transportation of the area. The pathetic condition of the road poses tremendous danger for the pedestrians and the people residing in the either sides of the area.
Reportedly, five years ago altogether Rs. 100 crore of funds was deployed under Central scheme to renovate the road from Kailashahar to Kumarghat and to make it a two-lane road. And two years ago, construction of two culverts were started but left incomplete due to some unknown reasons.
Resent brewed up among the locals when the concern Authority did not make the necessary use of the funds deployed by the central as the district is facing pathetic condition of the road.
The condition resulted pathetic situation for the dwellers in the area causing injuries to the pedestrians with the stones chips and the pot holes all over the roads. A vast number of commuters along with the drivers and the passengers are facing acute problem leading to disruption in the vehicles.
Blaming the PWD department, the locals said that if the concern department would have taken necessary steps to repair the roads then this situation would not have occurred.
Knowing about the condition of the Unakoti District PWD Minister Badal Choudhury expressed grief.
