TELIAMURA, June 13 (TIWN): For past 8 years the grocery market ‘Uttaran’ left in a deplorable condition, hampering the development in the business sectors of that area including reduction in the economy and advancement of the area.
Reportedly, Fishery Minister Khogendra Jamatia and Power Minister Manik Dey jointly laid the foundation stone of the ‘Uttaran’ Market in the year 2007. There after Chief Minister Manik Sarkar inaugurated the Market on 9 July in the year 2008.
Instead of implementing the fund, in the development of the underprivileged area of the state, the ruling Government had spent Rs. 7 crore in constructing the market which is left in a deplorable condition due to lack of maintenance.
Agitated businessman expressed that the 80 stalled buildings left vacant as no businessman were permitted to carry on with their business in the market.
As per the official report, 64 stalls were distributed among the businessman but till day no one has been seen to carry on their business in the concern stalls. Instead, come miscreants openly consume alcohol in the building.
During the rainy season, the market building gets floated with water allowing water borne disease and mosquito to breed. This situation turns the building in to a hub of dirt and garbage.
“For last 8 years the building has been standing idle. At night miscreants openly consumes alcohol and disturb the people of the area due to which it has become hard to continue any kind of business nearby”, said a businessman.
However, the fund which could have been spent for the development of the other deplorable part of the state went to vein due to the negligence of the authority.
