AGARTALA, June 12 (TIWN): The state is all set to conduct the by-election, scheduled to be held on June 27 as the scrutiny of all the nomination papers were declared valid by Debashis Modak, Additional Chief Electoral Officer (CEO).
All the nine nomination papers submitted for by-elections of 13-Prataphgarh and 46-Surma assembly constituencies were declared valid by the respective Returning Officers.
Of the total, 5 nominations were filed from 13-assembly constituency while 4 nomination papers were submitted from 46- Surma assembly constituency.
Reportedly, the five candidates, who filed nomination from 13- Prataphgarh assembly constituency, are Ramu Das (CPI-M), Mousumi Das (BJP), Ranjit Das (INC), Biplab Chandra Sarkar (Independent) and Anil Chandra Das (Independent).
However, Additional Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) - Debashis Modak said that, Anjan Das of CPI-M, Nagendra Chandra Biswas of INC, Ashis Das of BJP and Independent candidate Sushil Malakar would contest in the 46- Surma assembly constituency.
Further, almost all the political parties here in Tripura have geared up for the upcoming by-elections slated to be held on June 27, 2015.
The commission has decided that the voter’s identification shall be mandatory in the aforementioned by-elections at the time of poll. Electoral photo identity card (EPIC) shall be the main document of identification of a voter.
The model of conduct shall come into force with immediate effect in the districts in which the whole or any part of the Assembly Constituency going for by-election is included, ECI decided.
It is mentionable here that the result for by-elections for Prataphgarh and Surma assembly constituencies is scheduled to declare on June 30.
