BELONIA, June 11 (TIWN): In a felicitation programme organized by Belonia Municipal Council on Wednesday, where the sixth rank holder of H.S (+2) examination, Akash Dey was conferred “Vidhyasagar Smriti Puroshkar”, a Homeopathy Pharmacist of Belonia Sub-divisional hospital Aushotosh Debnath was found promoting for a private institution of Kolkata.

This activity of promoting a private college in a government organized felicitation programme is truly slammed as illegal.

However, to our greatest surprise, we did find another shocking revelation that the entire promotion of the Bharat Consortium Institution of Kolkata was done in the presence of Belonia Municipal Council Chairman Dipankar Sen.

Addressing, the student at the felicitation programme, Aushotosh Debnath was literally provoking the newly passed H.S. (+2) students to take admission in the Bharat Consortium Institution for pursuing their higher education. Further he also distributed the Prospectus and leaflets of the institute free of cost to the students. Above all, without any consultation from the authority he has called a professor identified as Ashuman Majumder from the institution to give a speech at the programme for promoting the institution to the students.

Now question arise how can a government employee promote about a private institution in a felicitation program organized by Belonia Municipal Council.

It is to be mentioned that every year ample of brokers and fraud agents get engaged to enroll students in private or non-existent colleges, manages to take students from Tripura in exchange of hefty amount in the name of getting them admission, where as in reality  it was found that those colleges are of ‘C’ category and they are non-affiliated colleges.

With the illegal business in the name of admitting students in ‘C’ category colleges across the nation by a section of brokers and agents, are becoming rampant in the state.

Opposition leader Sudip Roy Barman said that those brokers and agents who comes here in the state every year to admit students in the abroad colleges in the name of “A” category college and mainly targets the rural students and as a result their unsecured futures stops at one point of time. Because the colleges were found having no affiliation or either their affiliation has been cancelled.

He said that every year at least 2000 to 3000 students are going abroad for perusing higher studies, but are deprived at large at those abroad ‘C’ category colleges, where they do not have minimum accommodations and infrastructures for the students.

Barman also criticized, the state govt. here, and said that the govt. has no report of it and neither had it done any registration of the colleges so far.” As a result the students of Tripura are getting victimized in the hand of fraud brokers and agents,

Every year after they come here to take students in return of hefty amount from the guardians, the state govt. here plays its negligence role in regard of its registration in Govt.’s file.

However, talking to SDMO Jagadish Namo said that it is not allowed to promote any private institution in a government run program. He further added that he will do the further investigation of the matter any will take the necessary action.
