AGARTALA, June 10 (TIWN): In the ensuing By-election, Congress Party Candidate Ranjit Das of 13-Pratapgarh Constituency and Nagendra Kumar Biswas of 46-Pratapgarh Constituency had submitted their nomination on Wednesday to the Additional District Magistrate Office.

Prior to the submission of the nomination paper, the party organized a colorful rally which walked across several parts of the city. It may be recalled that the party announced the name of the candidates for the by-elections of 13-Pratapgarh and 46-Surma, a couple of days ago.

13-Pratapgarh constituency was vacant due to the death of both veteran communist leaders Anil Sarkar and sitting MLA- Sudhir Das in February.

In the meantime ruling party CPI-M had submitted their nominations and BJP Candidate of 13-Pratapgarh had also submitted their nomination. By-elections would be held at Pratapgarh and Surma assembly constituency in Tripura on June 27.

According to the notification issued by the ECI, the last date of filing nomination papers by the candidates from the both the constituencies is June 10. The last date of withdrawal of candidature is June 13.

On the other hand Congress party is quite sure of their success in the upcoming by-election. The commission has decided that the voter’s identification shall be mandatory in the aforementioned by-elections at the time of poll. Electoral photo identity card (EPIC) shall be the main document of identification of a voter.

The model of conduct shall come into force with its immediate effect in the districts, in which the whole or any part of the Assembly Constituency going for by-election is included, ECI decided.

It shall be applicable to all the candidates, political parties and the State Govt. concerned. However the State Election Commission is entrusted to issue the notification for the by-elections on June 3, 2015.

It is to be mentioned here that almost all the political parties here in Tripura have geared up for the upcoming by-elections slated to be held on June 27, 2015.
