KHOWAI, June 9(TIWN): Government’s ambitious rural employment project Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) has come under the scrutiny of the common MGNREGA labourers of West Korangichora ADC village of Tulasikhar RD block.
The labourers alleged that the money was not reaching to the hands of the real beneficiaries and in many cases, going to wrong hands.
Reportedly, 50 MGNREGA labourers at their 60’s worked for 62 days under the MGNREGA job guarantees scheme in exchange of daily wage of Rs.155 which stands at an total amount of Rs.9610 for 62 days.
However, the labourers alleged that they dint get any single amount of the work from the concerned authority.
Agitated MGNREGA labourer Sukumar Das, resident of West Korangichora ADC village informed the matter to ADC village Vice-Chairman Nirmal Bhattacharjee. Interestingly, instead of taking measures to provide the regular wages to the deserving labourer he threatened Sukumar Das furiously and allegedly also stopped the old-age allowance of those particular 60 labourers.
However, failing to get any help from the ADC village vice-chairman, he further informed the matter to SDM Dr.Samit Roy Chowdhury, DM N.Darlong and said that if proper action is not taken they will place a deputation in the coming days.
