AGARTALA, June 9 (TIWN): Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) to move for New Delhi on June 14 to stage a sit-in-demonstration at Jantar Mantar ground taking up the issue of the chit fund scam here in Tripura, said TPCC President Birajit Sinha on Monday.

Sinha was talking to the reporters here at Agartala Congress Bhawan on Monday during the press conference.

He said on June 14 the congress workers would leave for New Delhi and later on June 15 they would meet All India Congress President Sonia Gandhi and Vice President Rahul Gandhi in this regard. The congress would also meet President Pranab Mukharjee on June 16, said Sinha.

Adding to that he said that on June 17 they would stage a sit-in-demonstration at New Delhi Jantar Mantar ground. Opposition leader of Tripura Sudip Roy Barman would also remain present.

Asked about the issue of meeting President, Barman recently talking to TIWN said that they would meet him taking up the issue of the negligence role of the central govt. over the CBI probe on NBFC companies here in Tripura.

Earlier this month after the ADC elections Barman reiterating its demand for a CBI probe into the activities of all illegal chit fund firms and chit fund groups in the state said that the congress MLAs along with the leaders and the supporters would hit the Jantar Mantar at New Delhi on mid-June this year by staging a sit-in-demonstration and protesting the ‘negligence role’ of the central govt. over issuing CBI probe into the illegal activities of the NBCs here in Tripura.

Barman blaming the govt. at the centre said, “The central govt. intentionally with a political motive is trying to curtain the ponzi scam of Tripura.” Adding to that barman also claimed that the central govt. has owned a strategy of “Pick & Choose”.

He said inspite of providing bundles of letter and documents relevant to fraudulent activities of the NBFCs here, the central govt. has not yet responded to it and has not taken any necessary steps by issuing CBI probe in to the scam in Tripura.

Barman claimed Sarkar and his ministers have encouraged the poor people of the state to invest in ponzi schemes of Rose Valley, whose chairman Gautam Kundu is in custody for alleged money laundering.

Sarkar, a Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) politburo member, had earlier denied his government's involvement in the Rose Valley group after Burman published photographs of the Marxist leader attending an event of the company.

However but it is worthy to be mentioned here that , the Opposition Congress leaving no stone unturned and despite a serious debacle in the recently concluded general elections to the Tribal Council yet again all set to push the Central govt. for a CBI probe into the scam. This would however bring no respite for the ruling CPI-M now as its Left front govt. would soon see nightmare dream of the chit fund scam.
